Queens Park Rangers boss Jim Magilton is refusing to get carried away by his side's recent fine form.

Rangers currently occupy seventh place in the Championship table after securing three consecutive victories.

They have scored four goals in each of those successes and have lost just twice in the league all season.

Magilton's men also hold a game in hand on all of the sides above them and maximum points from that contest would see them climb to within a point of leaders Newcastle.

There is a real sense of optimism currently sweeping around Loftus Road that a return to the Premier League could be imminent, but Magilton insists it is far too early to be thinking about promotion.

He told the club's official website: "I'm not getting carried away by any stretch of the imagination. I'm very much a game-by-game manager.

"Of course players can't help but get affected by the media because it's so intense now. But I'm not getting carried away. You don't win anything at this time of the year.

"We have momentum which is a very important ingredient in football. We just have to keep it going, keep believing, keep working extremely hard in training and then try and get the results that we're getting."
