Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock has been named the npower Championship manager of the month for August.

The Loftus Road outfit made a superb start to the new campaign, romping to victories over Barnsley, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe, scoring nine goals without reply.

The Rs then produced a stirring recovery in their last outing at Derby as two goals in the dying moments saw them snatch a point having trailed 2-0 at the 90-minute mark.

Warnock has been at the helm of the West London club since March having moved across the capital from Crystal Palace.

The experienced boss, who has also enjoyed stints with Sheffield United, Bury, Oldham, Plymouth, Huddersfield, Notts County and Scarborough, has been handed the task of guiding QPR back into the Premier League.

Aims

The club slipped out of the top flight in 1996 after 13 years at the highest level but with the backing of wealthy owners Lakshmi Mittal, Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone they are now determined to return.

Warnock told Sky Sports News: "My aims are to get promotion. I want to be in the Premier League again.

"I like to pit my wits against the best.

"It's a long season but it is good to get points on the board. We will get beaten here and there, but we intend to enjoy ourselves."

QPR scooped an awards double for August with Adel Taarabt named npower Championship player of the month for his impressive showings during their excellent start.
