Jason Puncheon says a brief meeting with Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock was enough to convince him to join the club on loan.

The forward completed a deadline-day switch to Loftus Road from Southampton with Warnock having already added the likes of Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips to his squad.

Anton Ferdinand and Luke Young were further high-profile arrivals, and Puncheon is buzzing to be mixing it with such proven Premier League players.

"Once I met him and had a chat with him, there was no turning back," Puncheon, speaking of Warnock, told the club's official website.

"He has made some great signings, bringing in players who have vast experience in the Premier League.

"When you look at those players and put together how many games they have played between them in the Premier League, it shows you how experienced they all are.

'Delighted'

"I am more than delighted that this move has gone through," added Puncheon, who had a successful loan at Blackpool in the Premier League last season.

"It dragged on over the summer but it's all done now and I am looking forward to getting some minutes on the pitch as and when I can.

"I am concentrating on getting myself ready for games. I know what to expect and this is another learning curve for me."

For all QPR's spending, Puncheon insists avoiding relegation remains the club's main objective having only recently achieved promotion to the top flight.

"Our target has to be to stay in the Premier League, you can't look beyond that," he said.

"The sooner we can get the points on the board the better, but I am more than confident that, with the signings the gaffer has made, along with the quality that we already had at the club, we will be OK."
