Young: Has revealed that he did not enjoy his time under Gerard Houllier
QPR defender Luke Young has spoken of his joy at leaving Aston Villa to join the Loftus Road club this summer.
The 32-year-old completed the move just days before transfer deadline day and has made two appearances for Neil Warnock's side.
The former England full-back made 24 appearances for Villa under Gerard Houllier last season as they finished ninth in the Premier League.
Houllier was mutually released from the Midlands club in June with Alex McLeish taking over for the new campaign.
QPR meet Aston Villa at Loftus Road this Sunday looking to follow up last weekend's 3-0 win over Wolves at Molineux.
Young told the London Evening Standard: "It was one of the most unenjoyable seasons I've had in football.
"Two years before that we were right up there in fourth or fifth come March time and were trying to push on and finish in the Champions League, which seems quite ridiculous now with what happened last season.
"Was Houllier like a school teacher? Yes, it was a little bit like that.
"You always felt you were getting judged on what extra work you were doing and weren't doing.
"It was: 'Are you in the gym doing your extra work, or are you not?'
"A few things went on that weren't great. It was a long, hard season and in the end we were really relieved to finish ninth. It seemed a little bit of a false position because it wasn't a great season for us."
