Calderwood: A happy Don

Jimmy Calderwood has dismissed speculation that he is interested in taking the vacant Leicester City manager's job.

The Aberdeen boss has seen his name linked with a possible move south of the border to the Walkers Stadium.

However, Calderwood has moved to distance himself from the reports - insisting he and his assistant Jimmy Nichol 'love' being with Aberdeen and will still be at the helm beyond their Uefa Cup double-header against Dnipro later this month.

It must be love

"Jimmy Nicholl and I love this club and fully expect to be here when we return to Europe and beyond," Calderwood told the Daily Record.

"You can never be certain about what is around the corner but we're happy in our jobs and not planning to leave in a hurry.

"This sort of speculation goes on in football all the time. Of course, it's flattering but that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned."

Ambition

Calderwood did, though, hint that Aberdeen would need to match his own ambitions in the future - if he was to stay.

"We need to know how far we can go. To keep moving forward, it is vital that we keep players like Michael Hart, Barry Nicholson and Chris Clark," he said.

"We must find out if the finances are in place to keep our best players and build on what has been achieved so far.

"I just need to know what the ambitions of the directors are and Willie Miller is aware of this."
