Danish goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen has been told he can leave Leicester City in January.

Nielsen was signed by former Foxes manager Martin Allen in the summer from Aalborg, but has yet to make a first-team appearance.

On-loan Marton Fulop is Leicester's first choice, while Paul Henderson has been providing the back-up on the bench.

The situation has prompted Nielsen to ask for a move when the transfer window reopens and he confirmed the Championship side have granted his wish.

Hope

"I have told them that I want to look for a new club," the 30-year-old told the Leicester Mercury.

"The past few months have not been good. It's not been fun because I came here to play first-team football, not for the reserves.

"I'm also at an age where I want to be playing regularly and I am happy Leicester have given me permission to look for a new club.

"I don't know what can be sorted out, but I will hope to move on during the January transfer window.

"I may try to look for another English club because I do like the country and have settled in Leicester. But, really, I am open to everything."
