Wilson: Has Hartlepool on top

The second weekend of League One action once again sees a full programme of fixtures.

The nerves and excitement which met the resumption of competitive action last week should still linger into Saturday.

One game does not make a season, and the 10 sides who tasted sweet success in their first fixture could be brought crashing back down to earth seven days on.

Of those teams basking in the glory of an opening day victory it is Hartlepool who sit proudly at the top of the table.

Danny Wilson's men should also be confident of ending the weekend where they start it, as they play host to a Tranmere side who slipped to a comprehensive defeat in their first outing.

Swindon were Rovers' conquerors last week and will be hoping the momentum taken from that result will carry them to another three points at Cheltenham.

Title-favourites Leeds made a winning start at Scunthorpe and will fancy their chances back on home turf against Oldham.

Leicester are expected to provide the biggest challenge to the Whites and go in search of back-to-back victories away at Stockport.

Carlisle caused more than a few upsets last season, but will need to avoid being on the receiving end of one when they play host to Crewe.

Much is expected of MK Dons and Peterborough this year but both began the 2008/09 campaign with defeats.

As a result, they will be looking to make amends in home fixtures against Northampton and Leyton Orient respectively.

Hereford's first taste of League One life last weekend did not go quite to plan, so the Bulls need to respond when they welcome Yeovil to Edgar Street.

Scunthorpe and Colchester suffered relegation hangovers on their return to the third tier, but have the opportunity to get back into winning ways when they face Walsall and Huddersfield.

Southend narrowly missed out on promotion last season and got off to a perfect start this time around.

They travel to Millwall on Saturday looking to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Finally, Bristol Rovers travel to the Withdean Stadium to take on a Brighton side who left it late to secure an away win on the opening day.
