Leicester have signed former England international Chris Powell after he impressed on trial.

Powell has signed a six-month deal at the Walkers Stadium after being released by Charlton at the end of last season.

Foxes boss Nigel Pearson believes Powell will prove a valuable addition to his squad.

"Chris has been with us this week and trained very well," Pearson told the club's official website.

"He is coming towards the end of his playing career but is still very fit. He has been put through some rigorous testing and passed with flying colours.

"He is a very experienced head who will complement our young backline very well."
