Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric is expecting manager Nigel Pearson to sign a new contract in the next month.

Pearson has impressed since taking charge at the Walkers Stadium in 2008 and led the club to the League One title in his debut season.

He has the Foxes contending for promotion to the Premier League this term, with his side currently in the Championship play-off zone after an eight-match unbeaten run.

Mandaric is confident Pearson will not be lured away by another club and believes a new deal will be concluded before the end of the campaign.

No concern

"I am always confident Nigel will not leave," said Mandaric. "As for as the legality of the deal, we are working on that as well.

"And before the season is finished - well before the season is finished; I'd say the next 30 days or so - we will sort it out.

"He's here to stay at least as long as I'm here, so there is no problem with Nigel's contract.

"We are in contact, we have dialogue - it is really a rolling contract so when the year is finished there is another year coming.

"We are trying to do something more, but Nigel is not concerned, it is not an issue.

"He says: 'Milan, I look you in the eye - I'm going to go nowhere'. There is no concern whatsoever and I don't want anyone to worry about it."
