Bolton striker Kevin Davies is eager to sign a new contract at the Reebok Stadium before the start of the Premier League season.

The 31-year-old has re-opened discussions with the Trotters after the club returned from a recent two-game tour of Greece and he is now hoping to put pen-to-paper.

Davies has been targeted by Hull over the summer and Bolton rejected one bid from the KC Stadium outfit as manager Gary Megson demonstrated his desire to retain the forward's services.

And Davies, who joined Bolton in 2003 from Southampton, also insists he is not interested in moving away.

"We are in talks and that's where we stand at the moment," Davies told the Bolton News.

"I'm settled here so it is just down to myself and the club.

"I'm very positive about it, so hopefully we can get something tied up by the start of the season."
