Boateng: Loving football
Dutch midfielder George Boateng insists the Hull City players are committed to trying to avoid relegation.
The Tigers currently find themselves in 16th place, three points above the drop zone, but the ex-Villa and Middlesbrough man insists the players do not solely care about money.
"The manager is asking that we give all we have and he cannot fault us for trying because he knows if we do that, we have a chance," Boateng told the Hull Daily Mail.
"People look at the Premier League players with their cars and their houses and whatever and think that is all we are about.
"But out there, when you are fit playing, sweating, giving everything with the lads, that's what we are paid for and I am enjoying it. I love it."
Hull started the season in blistering form, claiming the scalps of Arsenal and Tottenham while running Manchester United very close at Old Trafford.
Results have dropped since then and the Tigers have managed only two wins in their last 27 league matches.
They gained a point at Anfield in a 2-2 draw in December and will be looking to go one better this Saturday when Liverpool visit the KC Stadium.
"When we play against Liverpool no one will give us a chance but we can surprise them," believes Boateng.
"We have been to places where people gave us no chance, like Arsenal where we won. What were the odds there?
"Hopefully Tuesday's game (against Arsenal) will have taken a lot of energy out of them but I look forward to it and the team does."
