Turner: Sunderland move
Sunderland have secured the signing of Hull City defender Michael Turner for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old centre-back has agreed a four-year deal with the Black Cats and becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer.
Turner's future has been the subject of conjecture of late, with Liverpool linked with an interest.
But the stopper has now opted to join Steve Bruce's Sunderland, who have won two of their opening four games of the new Premier League season.
Turner joined Hull from Brentford in 2006 and made 129 league appearances for the Tigers.
Bruce said: "I believe that Michael is one of the country's premier central defenders.
"I have been looking to add size and strength to the back line and Michael fits the bill perfectly in that respect, as well as being an excellent technical footballer.
"His aerial ability provides us with another dimension at set-pieces at either end of the field, and I am delighted that he has chosen to buy into what we are trying to achieve here at Sunderland.
"He has developed immeasurably as a player whilst with Hull - I am extremely confident he will continue that progress with Sunderland and go on to be a big success."

This is football suicide , of all the teams to sell to but sunderland a team that is likely to be fighting it out with our very selves. Ive always supported our chairman and board but this is the final straw when will they stop selling the supporters down the river . A sick tiger !!!

The sale of Turner was earmarked from day one of the transfer window, as duffen will not invest any more of his money, the sale is needed to fund any other players. I agree at this late stage it's bye bye premiership for Hull as already proven no one will sign for the pittifull wages offered by Hull, this has been shown by this sale of Turner, I could understand him going to Liverpool (who wouldn't) but Sunderland??? The reason is obviously not the for the club. - Shaun, Hull.

Great signing for us. Could see us top 10 (forget Stoke). Getting rid of McShane just as exciting- our worst player.

We buy Turner, then off load the best defender we have in Danny collins, and get stuck with ferdinand and the hopless Craig gordon, could be a long and tough season

Good luck to Michael Turner at Sunderland, he deserves the extra money he will find in his pay-check. It is making City look like a tuppenny-halfpenny outfit. We cannot buy because we are cheap and we now cannot keep for the same reason. I ask what price premiership survival? Get a grip Brown.

losing Turner is a massive blow, im just hoping that this doesnt seal relegation in what we all knew was going to be a difficult season! Michael, good luck in the future, though why sunderland god only knows!! City need to spend big as the likes of mcshane dont fit the bill!

really dissapointed with the way hull city go about their buisness, why would you sell your best footballer for less money then you'd get for staying in the premier league!!.This is a step backwards for the club which ever way you look at it,so you,ve got to seriously doubt the commitment and drive of the board to make this club an established premier leage side.

Aaron Martin (Hull City fan) says...
A great loss to the team, if the fee's rumored at £12mil are true then it lessens the blow slightly. however when we signed Mcshane I knew 1 of 2 things could happen 1. They could create an amazing partnership like they had at the start of the season 2. it opened the door for basicly a switch from either team, sadly it was the second one, i hope for sunderlands sake they do well because the lad is knocking on the england door and it would take some big performances to replace Rio and JT as englands CB, but i think if injuries occur he should be next in line, However if sunderland do badly (it could happen they seem to underachieve for the money spent year in year out) i think it will hinder his chances even more. As a hull city fan i can only speak very highly of him, and wish him all the best at his new club, and would welcome him back with open arms if sunderland does not work out for him, I hope the Sunderland fans know how great a player they have just signed and give him the respect, time and appreciation The tigers fans have given him, and most of all i hope he doesn't play as outstandingly against us this season as he has done for the past 3 seasons for us

I can't believe he has gone. I attend Hull City every week at the KC stadium to watch one of my favourite and best players in the squad. Then suddenly BANG he has gone. I am in tatters I hope Phil Brown can put the mpney a whopping cheque down on the table of any of the other 19 premiership clubs or Scotland, Spain where ever... I hope he brings in somebody who is going to match the talent and capabilities of Michael Turner. If Turner reads this. Michael if you read this. GOOD LUCK and have a very successful career and hope Mr Capello spots you and brings you into the England setup GOOD LUCK FROM THE BLACK AND AMBER ARMY
