Pearson: Challenges
Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has warned the club's fans not to expect new signings in the January transfer window.
Phil Brown's side have lifted themselves away from the drop zone with a recent upturn in fortunes, but remain just four points above the bottom three having played a game more than many of their rivals.
Pearson, who recently returned to the helm in place of Paul Duffen, has inherited a financial situation which gives him cause for concern.
And while some supporters may be hoping to see improvements made to the playing staff during the transfer window, Pearson has admitted that will not be possible.
He said: "I'd be lying if I said there were not challenges.
"We're not going to be splashing out in January. Fans shouldn't expect us to spend millions in the transfer window."
Meanwhile, midfielder Stephen Hunt has hit back at suggestions that the Tigers' recent climb is purely down to the return of record signing Jimmy Bullard.
The former Fulham star, who is fit again after a serious knee injury, was a key figure in the 2-1 victory over Stoke and the 3-3 draw against West Ham.
Bullard did not feature in the 3-2 midweek triumph against Everton, with George Boateng coming into the midfield, and Hunt believes that demonstrates the talent available to Brown.
The Republic of Ireland international said: "We're certainly not a one-man team. Jimmy may have got the praise for his last two games, but we have worked our socks off as well.
"He's been good since he came back and will be fit for Saturday, but whether the manager picks him I don't know.
"It's a good problem for him to have. George Boateng had been out for a while so to come in like he did is a credit to him, he's a great professional."
