Hull City assistant-manager Brian Horton believes their 2-1 win over Manchester City was a "testament to the staff and fans".

The Tigers' victory comes in a week that has already seen them earn a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the KC Stadium.

Hull dominated the first half, which saw striker Jozy Altidore rewarded for his efforts with his first Premier League goal after 31 minutes.

The home side took the 1-0 lead into the break and Horton admits he couldn't have been happier with the first 45 minutes.

"We got at them, like we did against Chelsea, set a high tempo from the start with the two up front causing problems," he said.

Confidence

"The first half was as well as we've played for a long, long time."

It was veteran midfielder George Boateng who extended Hull's lead early in the second half and despite a reply from Emmanuel Adebayor the Tigers sealed the victory.

The win lifts the relegation strugglers three points clear of the drop zone and Horton credited the draw with Chelsea for their renewed belief.

"The Chelsea result has given them confidence and confidence is the magic word in football because all of a sudden we look a completely different side," he added.

"We should have beaten Wolves and to come back and do what they did against two of the best sides in the country is a tremendous testament to the staff and the fans."
