Northampton manager Ian Sampson has wished former goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers well following his decision to move to Hull City.

Flowers will be linking up with new Tigers manager Ian Dowie at the KC Stadium, having previously been his assistant at Queens Park Rangers and Coventry.

The former England goalkeeper was in a part-time position at Sixfields, and while Sampson is disappointed to see him leave, hopes he can keep Hull in the Premier League this season.

"Tim goes with our best wishes and this is a fantastic opportunity for him to work at a Premier League club," he told Northampton's official website.

"He might have only been with us for a few weeks but he has been a big help to us and while we know this is a great move for him, we are sorry to see him go.

"Being both a friend of Tim's and a Hull fan as a boy I hope he can help Iain Dowie keep Hull in the Premier League and we wish them well.

"We will look at bringing a replacement in for Tim and make an announcement in due course."

Northampton hope to earn promotion to League One this term and they take on Morecambe at home on Saturday.
