News broke on Thursday that the 26-year-old was set to join French side Arles-Avignon after a week of discussions and the move has now been completed.

Ghilas' exit is part of a cost-cutting exercise at Hull, with reports that his new club will pay all of his £16,000-a-week wages.

Pearson is pleased to have finally negotiated the contractual intricacies of the transfer and the KC Stadium supremo hopes that the forward will increase in value in France.

"The deal took a long time to conclude because of the sheer complexity of what we were trying to achieve," Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail.

"To loan a foreign player out for a year is contractually quite complex and that took some time.

"Hopefully he can go and score some goals and his transfer value will increase again."
