Skysports.com understands young Everton midfielder Hope Akpan is set to join Hull City on loan.

Tigers boss Nigel Pearson is keen to bolster his squad for the Championship run-in with the Tigers pushing to secure a play-off place.

Pearson has identified Akpan as one of his leading targets with the talented youngster earning rave reviews for his displays with the Toffees' second string.

The 19-year-old central midfielder, who has been with the club since he was 15, is regarded as a real star of the future by the Goodison Park coaching staff.

Everton are prepared to allow the tough-tackling and energetic youngster move to the KC Stadium for a spell as they believe it would be beneficial to his development.

Hull are currently five points adrift of the top six with nine games of the season remaining and face a tough test on Saturday when high-flying Norwich travel to East Yorkshire.
