Matt Heath has spelt out his desire to stay at Leeds United and he is prepared to wait for the club to come out of a Football League transfer embargo in order to do so.

The defender's contract expired at the end of last season but the League One club are not permitted to finalise a new deal for the 25-year-old.

Leeds are currently under a Football League transfer embargo which was placed upon the club after they entered administration in May.

Dennis Wise has recently bemoaned the situation his club are in claiming it is damaging his pre-season preparations.

The Leeds boss feels he has already missed out on 10 potential new signings because of the regulations.

The embargo also forbids the club from completing new deals for out-of-contract players who are already at the club.

Manuel Rui Marques and Tore Andre Flo are also uncertain regarding their futures but new deals cannot be agreed until the club come out of administration and receive the approval of the Football League.

However Heath, who joined the club in January, is hopeful the situation will soon be resolved.

"It's a bit difficult to sort things out, I'm in the same position as I was at the end of the season," Heath told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"I would love to stay at Leeds and if we could sort it out then that would be great."
