Sodje: Had vital impact
The battle for the second automatic promotion spot in League One will go to the final day of the season after Leeds and Millwall both lost.
Charlton managed a late winner to defeat Leeds 1-0 at The Valley, but they left it to the 88th minute as an Akpo Sodje header went in off Richard Naylor.
However, all is not lost for Leeds as Tranmere Rovers did them a huge favour after they beat Millwall 2-0 at Prenton Park.
Ian Thomas-Moore put Rovers in front on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot, and on-loan Leeds player Andy Robinson scored the second on 66 minutes.
Swindon are now right back in the mix as they saw off Brentford in an entertaining 3-2 victory.
A Billy Paynter brace and a Danny Ward effort were enough for the home side, with David Hunt and Ben Strevens scoring for the Bees.
The results at the top leave Leeds still in second and they lead Millwall and Swindon by a point with a superior goal difference, while Charlton are two points behind them.
At the other end of the table, Wycombe were relegated after they were beaten 2-0 by Leyton Orient.
Ryan Jarvis and Scott McGleish scored for Orient, who are now virtually safe because of their goal difference.
Tranmere's win over Millwall gives them the chance of survival, although they still occupy the final relegation place.
They are level on points with Exeter, though, after the Grecians were held 1-1 at Hartlepool.
Exeter have Matt Taylor to thank for giving them the lead on 37 minutes, but Denis Behan scored to level the tie on 80 minutes.
Gillingham took one big step to safety after they overcame Southampton 2-1 at home.
The Saints had nothing to play for and Rene Howe gave the Gills the lead in the first half before Josh Gowling wrapped up the points, although David Connolly did pull one back.
Gillingham are now two points ahead of Tranmere and Exeter going into the last day of the season.
Yeovil Town are safe after they beat Oldham Athletic 3-0 at Huish Park.
The Glovers only needed a point to survive but they picked up all three thanks to Gavin Tomlin's strike in the 18th minute, as Gavin Williams scored another two to seal the win.
Huddersfield were assured of a play-off place before kick-off and they beat Colchester 2-1 at the Galpharm.
Theo Robinson scored from the penalty spot in the 17 minute although Simon Hackney equalised for the Us after the break, but Lee Novak had the last laugh at the death.
Champions Norwich are coming home at a canter and they dispatched of Bristol Rovers 3-0 at the Memorial Stadium.
Goals from Chris Martin, substitute Oli Johnson and Stephen Hughes secured the win for the Canaries, who only have one game in League One remaining before their promotion.
Carlisle and Walsall played out a 1-1 draw at Brunton Park, although the Saddlers had taken the lead inside two minutes through Darren Byfield.
Jason Price equalised just before the half-hour mark for the Cumbrians and the points were shared.
The bottom two took part in a dead rubber as Southend played hosts to Stockport County, and the home side came back to win 2-1.
Both teams are doomed to relegation already but Jabo Ibehre gave the Hatters fans something to cheer about with a goal on 71 minutes, before Harry Crawford equalised just four minutes later and Alan McCormack netted late on.
Meanwhile, in the final game of the day MK Dons drew 0-0 at home to Brighton.
There were two sendings off though, with Alex Rae and Diego Arismendi both seeing red for violent conduct.
