Bournemouth have signed teenage striker James Lawson on a month's loan from Championship side Southend.

The 19-year-old has failed to make it into the struggling Shrimpers' first team this season with Freddy Eastwood, Matt Harrold, Lee Bradbury and Gary Hooper all ahead of him.

Lawson is, however, set to go straight into the Cherries squad for their League One encounter at home to Brentford on Saturday.

Southend boss Steve Tilson said: "He's not getting any games here so it's better for him to go out and play and we'll monitor him."
