Foran: Loan completed

Southend United boss Steve Tilson expects Richie Foran to benefit from his loan spell at Darlington.

Foran has completed a temporary move to the League Two club, less than 12 months after Southend stumped up £150,000 to sign the forward from Motherwell.

But he has made just six appearances in the league for The Shrimpers this season and Tilson explained his reasons for sanctioning the loan.

"Richie needs to go out and get games," Tilson told the club's official website.

Valuable

"That's why we've let him go to Darlington and it will do him good."

Foran could make his Darlington debut against Brentford on Saturday and Quakers boss Dave Penney may now press ahead with further signings.

Penney said: "Richie will give us extra attacking options and his versatility will be valuable in the lead up to the busy Christmas programme.

"It's possible that there will be one or two more faces before the loan deadline."
