Os threaten Leeds action

Os considering legal move

Leyton Orient are threatening to take legal action should Leeds win back any of their deducted points and The Os finish outside the top six. Martin Ling's side are currently level on 50 points with The Whites and just two points adrift of sixth-placed Tranmere Rovers. Leeds are battling with The Football League to win back the 15 points they were deducted at the start of the campaign, a move which could see them surge to second if they win their case. However, Leyton Orient have followed in Doncaster's example and stated they would contest anything in Leeds' favour in court if it costs them the chance of promotion.

Drag on

Ling: Threatening action

"Rest assured that if we finish sixth and lose the final play-off spot to Leeds on a courtroom appeal, we'd be straight back in court and the whole episode would drag on," Ling told the Daily Mail.

"My big gripe with any change now is that we've been involved in a race all season in which Leeds have been 15 points behind us all. Indeed, we've factored that into all our plans."

However, Leeds feel it is only fair if teams battle for promotion and against relegation purely based on results on the pitch and not other factors.

"As long as this matter is resolved by the end of the season the outcome will be decided purely on performances on the pitch which surely must be the right place," said a Leeds spokesman.

"It is difficult to believe that any club has not tried to win every game this season.

"We are seeking for on-the-field performances to be the only defining factor in terms of promotion and relegation."
