Tilson: Believes in players

Steve Tilson believes his Southend side has what it takes to claim victory at Doncaster Rovers after the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final ended goalless.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock at Roots Hall on Friday evening to leave the tie delicately balanced heading into the second leg at the Keepmoat Stadium on 16th May.

Tilson was not of the belief that the draw favoured Doncaster, instead voicing his optimism that his men are capable of booking their place in the final.

"As I said before, as long as we are still in the tie going to Doncaster, then I would be pretty pleased," he told Sky Sports 1.

"Obviously being at home we wanted to take an advantage, maybe take a one or two-goal lead.

"But we are still in the tie and it is all to play for. I hope everyone thinks they're strong favourites.

"We will go there with a good away record and hope to get a positive result. It is going to be tough, but I believe in the players that we have got."
