Stuart Tomlinson has signed a new contract at Crewe Alexandra, but Ryan Lowe is set to leave Gresty Road.

Young goalkeeper Tomlinson is currently recovering from a knee injury after injuring his cruciate on loan at Burton Albion last season.

He is due to be fit again in September and is expected to push for a regular first-team spot, with Ben Williams and Owain fon Williams poised to leave the club.

Another player likely to move on from Crewe in the summer is Lowe, who finished the campaign on loan at Stockport County.

Crewe boss Steve Holland told The Sentinel: "I've spoken to Ryan and he made it clear he wants to play at this stage of his career rather than sit on the bench.

"I wasn't able to assure him of a first-team place, particularly if we land some of our targets."
