Leicester have bolstered their attacking options ahead of the new season with the capture of Paul Dickov.

The veteran striker moves to the Walkers Stadium as a free agent and has penned a two-year deal with the League One side.

The 35-year-old enjoyed cult status among the Foxes faithful during his first spell at the club between 2002 and 2004, scoring 37 goals in 89 appearances.

He will be hoping to repeat those heroics this time around, and manger Nigel Pearson is confident that the former Scotland international has the ability to be a considerable threat against third tier defences.

Fear

"Paul has all of the attributes you require to succeed as a footballer. He has tremendous spirit and I am delighted to have been able to bring him here," he said.

"He is the sort of player who never believes the team is beaten. He breeds fear into defences and I am sure he will be a tremendous asset for us.

"He will give us everything and I am sure he will be a big favourite with the fans here once again."

Dickov ended last season on loan at Blackpool, who had also expressed an interest in taking him on a permanent basis, but he was officially released by parent club Manchester City over the summer.
