Owusu: Joining Cheltenham
Cheltenham Town have agreed a deal to sign Lloyd Owusu from League One rivals Yeovil Town.
Owusu is to move to Whaddon Road on a free transfer after accepting a one-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.
He had been out of contract at Yeovil over the summer and had made five appearances so far this season after failing to agree a new deal.
The 31-year-old, who had previously been linked with Millwall, has opted to join Cheltenham, much to manager Keith Downing's delight.
"Lloyd has a good track record and has scored goals at this level," Downing told the club's official website.
"He's got great experience, strength and presence and can lead the forward line. He is different to what we have already in terms of his height and strength and will give us that extra firepower.
"We've had a few setbacks with players we've tried to sign over the last few weeks, but Lloyd wanted to come to Cheltenham and continue his career with us."
Meanwhile, Leicester striker Barry Hayles has turned down the chance of a six-month loan at Cheltenham and will have his current arrangement assessed on a monthly basis.
Downing added: "Barry is happy with us, but his personal circumstances mean that he is unable to commit to a long-term loan."
