Leicester City have confirmed Swiss international Bruno Berner has signed a three-year contract.

The 30-year-old left-back trained with The Foxes earlier this summer after he left Blackburn Rovers.

An injury meant a move had to be delayed, but now Berner has signed on until 2011.

"Bruno showed a real desire to join us. He's a player with a wealth of experience and I am sure he will be a great addition to our squad," said Foxes boss Nigel Pearson.

"It is good to have competition and I am fortunate that I have a decent depth in my squad already. Bruno's signing adds to that.

"When players have been asked to play out of position they have done so and contributed to the team very well. I am fortunate that I have so many versatile players.

"The important thing with that is that the players take their opportunities when they get them, and it is about achieving success as a group this season and we have had only a month so far."
