Milton Keynes Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has played down speculation linking Sam Baldock with a move to Celtic.

Reports have suggested that the Scottish champions are keeping tabs on the highly-rated 19-year-old.

Baldock, who recently signed a new deal at the League One outfit, has enjoyed a fine start to the season with three goals in eight appearances to date.

Di Matteo claims he has not heard anything from Celtic, but is happy his players are attracting attention.

"Interestingly, I haven't actually seen the papers yet and I haven't been on the phone to Gordon Strachan either," Di Matteo told the MK Citizen.

"We are very happy that we have tied him long-term to the club.

"It is a little bit early to judge him, he is only five to six games into his first season, so let's give him patience and time to develop.

"But it's only good for him, for the club and for everyone that he is attracting attention."
