Swindon Town chairman Andrew Fitton is hoping the club's next manager will be a long-term appointment.

The Robins are currently on the lookout for a new manager after Maurice Malpas departed the club last week.

Following Andy King's exit as manager in 2006, the County Ground outfit have now gone through four managers in the last two years.

Fitton believes stability is the key to boosting the team's results and wants Malpas' successor to be in the post for some time to come.

"The important thing is to find five or six people who could really do this," he said. "I genuinely hope the next appointment is for a long time."
