Colchester United have snapped up Jermaine Easter after the striker's loan at Millwall was cut short.

Easter had been on loan at Millwall from Plymouth Argyle since late September and had scored once in six appearances.

However, the Wales international has not featured regularly for the Lions of late, prompting Plymouth to invoke a recall clause.

He has now agreed a move to Millwall's League One rivals Colchester and links up with Paul Lambert's side until the start of January.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett admits a red card on his debut hindered Easter's prospects of making a sustained impact at the Den.

Jackett told the club's official website: "Jermaine's sending-off at Swindon in his first game meant that he was suspended for three weeks, and by the time he was available again we had our regular strikers back, with the exception of the cup tie at Chester and the team was playing well.

"We wish him all the best for the future."
