Danny Coles' return is a welcome boost for Bristol Rovers ahead of their derby tie with Swindon Town.

The Pirates defender looks set to start against the Robins after returning to training on Thursday.

Defensive duo Steve Elliot and Joe Jacobson have also made a return to training and could be named in coach Paul Trollope's starting eleven.

Midfielder David Pipe looks to be the only doubt for Rovers who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at home to Scunthorpe last time out.

Swindon news

Town caretaker boss David Byrne admits Saturday's derby tie could be make or break for him as he bids to secure the Robins managerial spot on a permanent basis.

Byrne will be without leading scorer Simon Cox as the striker serves a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Barry Corr and Ben Joyce could step into the breach for Town who have failed to win in their last four games.

Midfielder Craig Easton could return after being forced off at half-time in the Johnstones Paint Trophy defeat to Brighton last week.

Easton suffered a knock to his calf and was rested for the Robins 2-2 draw with Leicester.

Defender Jamie Vincent is still a long-term absentee with a knee problem.
