Crewe Alexandra insist Danny Woodards will still be sold, if an offer is received during the January transfer window.

Woodards is on the transfer list at Gresty Road after rejecting an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the season.

The full-back has been used in a midfield role in Crewe's last two games, having not featured for a month prior to his recall.

But, despite Woodards being back in the team, the Railwaymen's caretaker manager Dario Gradi says the 25-year-old's situation has not changed.

Nuisance ruling

"Nothing has changed regarding Danny's situation," Gradi told club's official website. "He will be sold on in January if we receive an offer because he has refused to sign his contract.

"We cannot be buying players in and then letting them go on a Bosman when their contract expires. The ruling is a nuisance to everyone except the player.

"When Danny indicated that he wouldn't sign his contract, we actively went out to find a replacement and I think we have done that with John (Brayford).

"Danny says he might re-sign yet, but the situation could change because we have a replacement in place now and the offer might not be there. I am not interested in players who do not want to sign their contracts. I'm only interested in those who do.

"We have been playing Danny in midfield of late and he has done well. He is in the shop window or is playing for a contract here. At this moment in time, he is still available for transfer once the window opens in January."
