Ronnie Moore is confident Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton will return to Tranmere Rovers in January.

Shotton completed a three-month loan stint at Rovers by appearing in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Peterborough United in the FA Cup second round.

He impressed during his spell with the League One club and scored five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

The youngster has returned to the Britannia Stadium until the transfer window reopens next month, when Moore expects Shotton to be back in his squad.

Moore said: "We have agreed with (Stoke manager) Tony Pulis and with the lad about him coming back to us, so I don't see there being any problem."
