Veteran striker Geoff Horsfield is looking to return to the game after being given the all-clear from testicular cancer.

He needed surgery and was forced to retire in October, so bringing down the curtain on a distinguished career which included spells at Fulham, Birmingham and West Brom.

At the time of his retirement, he was hoping to earn a contract with League One outfit Walsall.

The 35-year-old is now set to discuss possibilities with the club and wants to stay in the game in some form.

Tests

He told Beacon Radio: "The tests found that the cancer that was in my testicle, that's been taken away.

"I've just started running on my own at the minute and going to the gym, and I am trying to keep my fitness up and maybe even play and stamp my coaching badges in January.

"So I do want to stay in the game in some form, definitely.

"I'm definitely going to speak to (Walsall manager) Jimmy Mullen because he and (assistant manager) John Schofield were absolutely different class.

"Walsall were fantastic and I really enjoyed my time there, even though I was only there for three to three-and-a-half weeks."
