Leicester City are looking odds-on for a swift return to the Championship after brushing aside follow promotion hopefuls Peterborough United 4-0 at the Walkers Stadium.

Craig Morgan's own goal set The Foxes on their way before further goals from free-scoring Matt Fryatt, Andy King and Steve Howard ensured Nigel Pearson's men marched on at the summit of the table.

Milton Keynes Dons have climbed into second in the table following a 3-1 success over free-falling Leeds while high-flying Millwall could only muster a goalless draw with rock-bottom Crewe.

Scunthorpe have climbed one place to fourth after drawing 0-0 at Colchester while Oldham's 1-1 draw at home to Leyton Orient means Posh slip to sixth, despite Darren Ferguson's side suffering their first league defeat in 17 outings at Leicester.

Huddersfield have moved level on points with Leeds after goals from Nathan Clarke and leading scorer Gary Roberts gave Lee Clark a winning start as manager with a 2-0 success over lowly Hereford.

Jason Crowe netted the only goal of the game as Northampton edged out Carlisle while Tranmere have moved up into eighth after Antony Kay's last-gasp effort gave them a 1-0 success over Brighton, who now slip into the relegation places.

Swindon's miserable run continued after they finished on the wrong of a five-goal thriller against Yeovil. The Robins battled back from two goals down only to end up with nothing courtesy of Jerel Ifil's own goal.

Craig Davies was the hero for Stockport as he helped himself to a hat-trick as the Hatters ended a run of two consecutive home defeats with a fine 3-1 success over Bristol Rovers.

Cheltenham's goalless draw with Walsall did little to aid their battle against the drop. The point means they stay third from bottom, one behind Swindon.
