Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has been named the League One Manager of the Month for December.

The Foxes enjoyed a fantastic finale to 2008, with four wins and a draw from their five league games, which leaves them sitting on top of the division.

They began December with a victory against Southend United before coming from behind to net all three points at Carlisle United.

Pearson's men continued their unbeaten run with a comprehensive victory over Peterborough United before a draw at Leeds United and an eighth successive home victory against Hereford United.

But the Foxes boss is keen to keep feet on the ground as the club go in search of promotion, telling Sky Sports News: "The expectations have been there from the start and will continue to be.

"We are a side that people want to beat, but ultimately for us we want to get ourselves into a position where we can compete for promotion."

Also short-listed for the December award were Paul Lambert of Colchester United, Roberto Di Matteo of Milton Keynes Dons and Peterborough United's Darren Ferguson.
