Two first-half goals set up a 2-1 win for Scunthorpe at 10-man Yeovil to cement their place in the League One promotion race.

The Iron took the lead after 25 minutes as Gary Thompson's incisive cross from the by-line found Sam Togwell who tapped home from close range.

Yeovil's troubles worsened when skipper Terry Skiverton was sent off nine minutes later for an off-the-ball elbowing offence in the 34th minute and they fell further behind moments before the interval.

Iron striker Gary Hooper chased a route-one ball from the back and planted it low past the left hand of keeper Josh Wagenaar right on half time.

Scunthorpe were content to knock the ball around in the second half but the Glovers gave them a brief fright in stoppage time when Andre McCollin headed home a right-wing corner.
