Arsenal youngster Rene Steer has joined Oldham on a 12-month contract following a successful trial.
The 19-year left-back has been training with the Latics for the past week and has impressed manager Dave Penney.
He will be looking to make an impact at Boundary Park after having limited opportunities with Arsenal.
He made just one appearance for the senior Gunners side, coming off the substitutes' bench in the Carling Cup clash with Burnley.
Steer also spent three months on loan with Gillingham last season.
