Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has revealed that no interest was shown in want-away keeper Alan Julian during the loan window.

The former Stevenage keeper requested to be placed on the transfer list earlier this month.

But so far no one has come in for the 26-year-old's signature and Stimson said it is now up to the second-choice stopper to prove his worth while with the Gills if he is to earn a move away.

Stimson told skysports.com: "There has been no interest in Alan at all since he requested to leave the club.

"The lad wants to move, but as I've told him it is alright wanting to leave as long as someone out there wants to take you on.

"At the moment that isn't the case, so he will just have to wait till January now to see if anyone comes in for him then.

Best interests

"It is in his best interests to perform well for the club if he gets the chance whilst he is still here."

Meanwhile, Sunday's FA Cup third round draw handed the Gills a tough trip to either Accrington Stanley or Barnet and the 41-year-old admits he would prefer to face the Bees in January.

"I'd probably say Barnet, just in terms of location because it isn't as long a trip, but whoever we get will be tough opposition," he said.

"It is a chance to get through to the fourth round though and that would be a massive achievement.

"Everyone's first thoughts are on drawing one of the big boys because that is what the cup is all about and financially those sorts of ties are fantastic for the football club.

"However, after that you hope to get a side which you can compete against and have a chance of progressing in the competition.

"If we were drawn away from home against say a fellow League One side then it would seem a little harder, but we've got the utmost respect to Accrington and Barnet it will be a difficult tie for us, just like it was against Burton on Saturday."
