Charlton Athletic defender Miguel Angel Llera is eager to retain his place in the team after being forced to wait for a recall.

The Spaniard lost his place in the Addicks' back four towards the end of last year, but is now back in favour with Sam Sodje suspended and Christian Dailly having missed the last two games with an illness.

"I played 12 or 13 matches and the team only lost one," said Llera. "After this, I left the team and spent nine matches on the bench.

"I didn't come to England for a holiday, I came here to play and I think that I work hard every day to play. When you work hard and play well for the first few matches and then only play one game is not ideal.

"I spoke with the manager and he understands my problem. But I must also understand the manager and his decisions about other players.

"I must wait for my opportunities and I have to work hard to stay in this team."

Meanwhile, non-league Welling hope to sign Charlton Under 18 skipper Carl Jenkinson on work experience next week.
