Norwich have extended their League One lead as Leeds and Charlton both lost away from home.

Huddersfield took an early lead against Norwich, but after Grant Holt levelled matters Stephen Elliott's brace sealed a fine 3-1 success.

Leeds' short unbeaten run ended at St Mary's as ex-White Dan Harding scored the only goal of the game for Southampton in a crucial 1-0 win.

Charlton missed the chance to gain ground on second-placed Leeds after being thumped 4-0 by Millwall at The Den. Darren Ward opened the scoring just before half time while Steve Morison's late brace secured a fine success.

Colchester have dropped a place into fifth after suffering a 2-1 defeat to 10-man Carlisle. Clive Platt opened the scoring after Tom Taiwo was red carded, but goals from Ben Marshall and Jason Price turned the game around.

Sixth-placed Swindon have opened up a five-point gap on Huddersfield after Charlie Austin's 69th minute winner bagged a 1-0 success at Brighton.

At the other end of the table Pawel Abbott's last-gasp penalty secured a share of the spoils for Oldham in a 2-2 draw with Wycombe while the big relegation six-pointer between Southend and Exeter finished goalless.

Yeovil rediscovered their scoring touch after putting Hartlepool to the sword 4-0 at Huish Park. Gavin Tomlin's penalty opened the scoring with Gavin Williams doubling their advantage. He was later sent off, but it mattered little as The Glovers romped home.

A second half brace from Sean Thornton gave Leyton Orient a 2-0 win over Walsall while Stockport's clash with Gillingham at Edgeley Park finished without any goals.

Bristol Rovers' game against lowly Tranmere Rovers at the Memorial Ground also finished goalless.

Brentford came from a goal behind three times to secure a point in a 3-3 draw at home to MK Dons. Aaron Wilbraham thought he had won the game late on only for Carl Cort to snatch a last-gasp leveller.
