Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson insists it is a tall order for his side to overhaul Leeds United and claim automatic promotion this season.

The Robins have taken the division by storm with the goal-scoring feats of both Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin filling the boots of West Brom-bound Simon Cox last summer.

However, with just five points separating them from the Yorkshire giants, Wilson told skysports.com that he is only concentrating on cementing their play-off berth.

"It is a very tall order for us to gain automatic promotion this season," he said.

"There is really only one place up grabs, if there any at all, as Norwich have pretty much sealed it after the run they've had.

"However, there are a number of sides in a better position than ourselves to capitalise on Leeds' loss of form, so for us to leap-frog all of them would be a big ask.

"We are just going to tootle along and try to get as many points on the board as we can and hopefully secure our play-off place."

Not for sale

The exploits of Paynter and Austin, who have scored 34 league goals between them this season, have not gone unnoticed, with a number of clubs said to be monitoring the duo, but Wilson insists neither were for sale during the January transfer window.

"We never received any offers for either Billy Paynter or Charlie Austin, but even if we did they would have rebuffed anyway," he continued.

"Obviously, if somebody had offered £5 million then they wouldn't have been turned away, but from our perspective we have to look ourselves.

"We are on a good run and to replace one of those boys would have been very difficult, so we felt that it was better to keep everyone on board and see where we can go this season."
