Birmingham goalkeeper Colin Doyle has joined League One club Plymouth on a one-week trial.

The 25-year-old Irishman, an Academy product at St Andrews, played 45 minutes of the Pilgrims' 1-0 friendly win over Hereford on Wednesday night.

Doyle enjoyed 19 league outings for Blues during the 2006-07 season but since then has made only four league starts.

The keeper fell to third in the pecking order at Blues last season behind on-loan Joe Hart and Maik Taylor, and has not appeared in the first team since April 2009.

England shot-stopper Hart has since rejoined Manchester City, but former Manchester United keeper Ben Foster has stepped in as his replacement.
