Russell Slade revelled in the glory of putting one over his former club Brighton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

This was Slade's first return to Withdean Stadium since being fired as Brighton manager last November, and he said: "This was a really positive result against a strong Brighton side."

Slade, who masterminded Brighton's escape from relegation at the end of the previous season, was given a standing ovation before the game, and he admitted: "I was chuffed to death with that, it was lovely."

Slade was delighted his side built on their first league win of the season with another clean sheet and he added: "There is a resilience forming about our side.

"I expect most of the squad to play over 30 games this season and we have plenty of spirit and foundation."
