Scunthorpe United sealed promotion to the Championship with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, as Rotherham United were relegated after losing at home to Carlisle United.
Billy Sharp's 68th minute goal sent The Iron on their way to promotion and his penalty on 84 minutes secured their Championship status for next season.
However, Rotherham will be playing in League Two next term after they lost and Cheltenham Town won.
Kevin Gray (68) scored the only goal for Carlisle against Rotherham, while goals from Kayode Odejayi (22) and John Finnigan (31) ensured three points for Cheltenham at Oldham Athletic.
Bristol City beat ten-man Yeovil Town 2-0 to keep their push for promotion firmly on course.
Lee Johnson's 43rd minute strike and Bradley Orr's penalty (71), after Scott Guyett had been sent off, was enough for The Robins against play-off hopefuls Yeovil.
Nottingham Forest and Blackpool both came from behind to net four times and overcome Brentford and Northampton Town respectively.
Forest trailed to goals from Thomas Pinault (16) and Charlie Ide (47) but mounted a second-half comeback to defeat relegated Brentford.
Kris Commons' double (68 & 92) coupled with a David Prutton goal (52) and Grant Holt's 74th minute penalty kept Forest third.
Simon Cox had given Northampton a 42nd minute lead at Blackpool, but two from Chris Brandon (49 & 62), Wesley Hoolahan's penalty (55) and an own goal from Sean Dyche (84) meant victory for the hosts.
Swansea City left it late, but claimed a point from their game with Bournemouth with two goals in the final ten minutes.
Alan Tate (83) and Lee Trundle (88) cancelled out earlier strikes from Marc Wilson (22) and David McGoldrick (60).
Bradford City gave their survival hopes a boost with a 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion, Billy Paynter scoring the winner after 35 minutes.
But Chesterfield dropped two points late at home to Gillingham when Andrew Crofts scored in stoppage time to separate the sides.
Adam Lockwood (54) cancelled out Gary Alexander's goal (36) as Leyton Orient and Doncaster Rovers drew 1-1 at The Matchroom Stadium.
Millwall and Tranmere Rovers also shared the spoils, as Alan Dunne's double (49 & 67) was not enough for Millwall because of goals from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (9) and Calvin Zola (69).
Port Vale thrashed Crewe Alexandra 3-0, Robin Hulbert (36), Leon Constantine (59) and Luke Rodgers (63) scoring for the home side.
