Doncaster Rovers gave their supporters plenty to smile about in their final match at Belle Vue with victory over title favourites Nottingham Forest.
Theo Streete (60) scored the only goal of the game as Rovers, who move from their home of 88 years to the £32m Keepmoat Stadium on New Year's Day, took maximum points against the leaders.
Third-placed Bristol City needed an injury-time strike from Jamie McCombe to salvage a point from their trip to Whaddon Road.
Two goals in as many minutes from Kristian O'Leary and David Bird made put John Ward's side in the driving seat. Bradley Orr pulled a goal back before McCoombe's late effort.
Oldham stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games with a comfortable 3-0 win against managerless Northampton Town in front of their biggest crowd of the season, 10,207.
Goals from Gary McDonald (22), Chris Porter (37) and Andy Liddell (61) proved decisive.
Blackpool moved up to sixth place with a 3-1 win over struggling Bournemouth, who had Darren Anderton sent-off in the second half.
Keigan Parker struck twice early after the interval to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. Simon Gillett pulled a goal back, but David Fox ensured victory with a third late on.
Gillingham produced one of the comebacks of the day at Prenton Park.
The home side raced into a two-goal lead inside the first five minutes through Chris Shuker and Chris Greenacre, but The Gills hit back in style with goals from Chris Mulligan (11, 19) and Ben Chorley before half-time to take the points.
Record goalscorer Leon Constantine scored twice in the opening 23 minutes, including one from the penalty spot, as Port Vale went in 2-0 up against Brighton.
Tommy Fraser pulled a goal back six minutes from time but Vale hung on and stay in ninth spot in the table.
Constantine's brace took his total for the season to 18, passing Vale's previous season's-best total jointly held by Basil Hayward and Andy Jones.
A last-minute glancing header from sub Adebayo Akinfenwa denied Rotherham a shock win at Swansea.
The South Yorkshire side went ahead through Eugen Bopp early in the second half, but Akinfenwa, who only came on with 11 minutes to go, headed his side level.
There were no goals in the games between Yeovil and Bradford at Huish Park, and the derby clash between Chesterfield and Huddersfield at Saltergate.
Leyton Orient and Crewe shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Nicky Maynard had fired Crewe ahead after half-an-hour, but Matthew Lockwood levelled with a 47th-minute penalty for the home side.
Carlisle added to Brentford's woes with a 2-0 win at Brunton Park.
Derek Holmes fired the Cumbrians ahead after 69 minutes and Neale McDermott added a second five minutes later as Brentford slumped to their 21st game without a win.
