Leeds boss Simon Grayson praised Ross McCormack for his attacking instincts after he scored the decisive goal in a win over Bristol City.

Ten-man Leeds snatched a 2-1 win four minutes from time, with McCormack stealing in at the far post to grab his seventh goal in nine matches.

"Ross was in the right place at the right time and showed a striker's instinct," said Grayson.

"We could have been two or three goals up in the opening minutes but in the end we ground out the result."

Adam Clayton handed the hosts a third minute lead but Neil Kilkenny levelled against his former club soon after.

City's Nicky Maynard saw a penalty saved by Andy Lonergan and the hosts appeared to be hanging on when Patrick Kisnorbo saw red on 64 minutes.

Red card

Grayson agreed with the red card decision, the fourth against his side this season, although he is adamant Leeds are not a dirty team.

"Andy's penalty save came at a vital time of the match and I had no quarrel with Paddy's sending-off," he said.

"He's the fourth player we've had dismissed this season but we are not a dirty team. We were unfortunate with the other three."

Meanwhile, City manager Keith Millen rues his side's missed opportunity from the penalty spot.

"We made the worst start possible by conceding a third-minute goal but Neil Kilkenny's goal got us back into it.

"When they went down to 10 men we should have scored from the resultant penalty and that's two we've now missed this season.

"I wasn't happy with the way we conceded the late goal, either. If you give away goals like that you don't win football matches."
