Table-topping Southampton head out on the road this weekend, as Middlesbrough defend the Championship's only unbeaten record.

Elsewhere, Dean Saunders will take in his first game in charge of Doncaster and Nottingham Forest will attempt to kick-start their season in the capital.

Southampton set the pace in the second tier and will be looking to secure their seventh victory of the season when they go to out-of-sorts Burnley.

Middlesbrough sit second, with Tony Mowbray having overseen a remarkable reversal in fortunes for the Teesside club, and they will stretch their unbeaten start to eight games should they avoid defeat at home to Ipswich.

Brighton and Leeds get the weekend action up and running on Friday evening and both sides will be hoping that midweek exertions in the Carling Cup do not leave them drained for a game that can be seen live on Sky Sports HD1.

West Ham have not tasted defeat since the opening day of the season and will be full of confidence when they welcome Peterborough to Upton Park.

Hull City have won three games in a row to surge up the standings and will have their sights set on another three-point haul when they go to struggling Bristol City.

Momentum

Derby returned to winning ways against arch-rivals Forest last week and the momentum established at the City Ground could see them past Millwall.

Blackpool have made a steady start to life back in the Championship and will be looking to condemn Portsmouth to a third straight defeat.

Birmingham are still struggling for consistency, but the same can be said for their weekend opponents Barnsley.

Coventry find themselves just above the drop zone at present and know anything less than a positive result against Reading could see them slip into the bottom three.

Nottingham Forest will be hoping they can clamber out of the relegation places, with Steve McClaren taking his side to Watford on Saturday evening.

Doncaster currently prop up the table, with just one point to their name, and have opted to replace Sean O'Driscoll with Saunders ahead of a home date with Crystal Palace.

Sunday will see Cardiff and Leicester meet in South Wales for the second time in the space of five days, with the Bluebirds having edged a Carling Cup meeting between the two sides in midweek.
