Nottingham Forest have announced that David Pleat has left his role of football consultant for the club.

Forest made the annoucement on Wednesday and explained that this has been done as part of "a restructuring of backroom resources".

"Nottingham Forest can confirm that David Pleat is to step down from his part-time role as football consultant to the club," reads a statement on Forest's official website.

"It follows a restructuring of backroom resources that has seen Keith Burt promoted from the role of chief scout to director of recruitment and scouting."

Developed

The Championship club's chief executive Mark Arthur said: "Keith has been with the club since 2006 and has now worked in tandem with three managers in Colin Calderwood, Billy Davies and Steve McClaren.

"We feel that the structure we have developed with Keith in his full-time role is well placed to take the club forward."

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank David for the enormous contribution he has made in his consultancy role which has seen the club celebrate promotion and reach the play-offs on three occasions," he added.

"David remains a friend of Nottingham Forest and will always be welcome at the City Ground."

McClaren's Forest have made a dismal start to the 2011/12 Championship campaign, picking up just eight points from nine matches and were hammered 5-1 by Burnley on Tuesday night.
