Leicester boss Paulo Sousa insists there is no guarantee that DJ Campbell will be leaving the club.

The strike ace continues to be tracked by Premier League newcomers Blackpool, having helped the Seasiders book their place in the top flight last term.

Campbell scored 11 goals during a productive loan spell at Bloomfield Road in 2009/10.

With speculation mounting regarding his future, he was left out of the Leicester squad for their game with Reading on Saturday.

That fuelled rumours that he was set for an imminent switch to Blackpool, but Sousa maintains that is not the case.

"DJ is our player. He belongs to Leicester and we make the best decisions for the club. Blackpool keep pushing but until now we don't decide yet," said the Portuguese.

However, Sousa admits he is not the type of manager to keep hold of an unhappy player.

He added: "If DJ does not have his mind in our club, then it is a good decision to stay out [of the side].

"He started the season scoring goals and was very happy and he is an important player, but when his head is not with us then it is better to leave him out as he can give us nothing."

Unsettled

While Sousa is yet to decide what the future holds for Campbell, he has revealed that there are other players within his ranks looking to leave the club.

He has stopped short of naming the unsettled stars, but admits he may need to move a few out in order to restore squad harmony around the Walkers Stadium.

"We have some who have asked to go but not too many," said Sousa.

"It means we have some good players and other clubs are interested in them. Depending on offers and the minds of the players, we will make decisions but we will keep it in-house.

"Players get unsettled when their agents start to tell them about other possibilities. Also, when there is a new manager and they have been first choice for another manager with a different kind of football, everyone starts in a little bit of doubt.

"From the start I said every player is important but not indispensable. The market is always open and we need to make our decisions."

Meanwhile, Dutch defender Randel Shakison has been released following a recent trial.
